RUG INFORMATION:
My personal favorite design in Turkish Hereke rugs with an amazing story that resonates to this day!!
Artpiece 20/20 quality ~2500+kpsi pictorial Hereke rug from the Khan-Khali weavers depicting the famous Ottoman story of the Tortoise Trainer!!
This is a genuine Turkish Khan-Khali Hereke rug with an amazing 20/20 quality, which translates into about 2500+ kpsi and it depicts the painting of the famous Turkish artist Osman Hamdi Bey The Tortoise Trainer. In 1906, the painter Osman Hamdi Bey created the painting as a form of satire to showcase the slow and ineffective attempts at reforming the Ottoman Empire. This painting and its meaning drew the attention of the wider world and is one of the best known examples of Turkish art. This Hereke pays tribute to his artwork and is a perfect example of how art can be combined with rugs. The pictorial design in this amazing 20/20 quality of the Tortoise Trainer is such a rare find that when we had the opportunity to purchase it from a private collector, we immediately jumped on it. If you are a fan of the Turkish Hereke rugs, you will know how special it is to have not only a genuine 20/20 Hereke, but also one that highlights the culture of the Ottoman Empire. The 20/20 quality pure silk Hereke rugs represent some of the finest and rarest types of hand-knotted carpets in the world and are considered to be the amongst the finest and best in Turkish rugs. The Khan-Khali workshop is one of the few contemporary workshop that made high quality pure silk Hereke rugs until a few years and this piece is the finest and highest quality one from their workshop.
