FIRST FOR US!! Newly discovered design in an Ozipek in a very long time!!
This artpiece 13/13 quality pictorial Ozipek Hereke rug in like new condition and with a unique pictorial design that we believe represents the Varda Viaduct. Given that the original Oizpek workshops closed their doors over 30 years ago, we thought that by now we would have seen or owned pieces with just about all of the designs and here comes a piece that features a truly unique design. The Ozipek workshop was renowned for producing rug designs that feature Ottoman history, culture or important events and this is one such piece. We had heard of this design, but have never seen pieces or pictures of it until we stumbled upon this piece by chance and we simply had to have it as we love the unique designs in the Ozipek pieces.
While the colors, workmanship and overall feel is classic Ozipek from the 1960's, this detailed artwork combined with the unique design and quality is truly unique...
If you are a Hereke fan as we are, you will know how remarkable this piece is with the 13/13 quality. Given that most pictorial silk rugs are typically hang on walls, it is in mint condition and there are no damages. With ~1000 kpsi, it is simply remarkable that weavers back in the days could weave rugs that had 13 Turkish double knots per centimeter. As with all genuine Ozipek pieces, there is a signature in the top center. If you are a fan of Turkish silk rugs, you will immediately appreciate a rare find like this one and it is obviously perfectly suited for hanging or displaying as a decor rug..
