RUG INFORMATION:
Amazing Hereke Korhan rug with a stunning 16/16 quality which equals about ~1600+ kpsi!!
This is one of several genuine Hereke carpets that we aquired from a private party that were made by the Korhan Hereke workshop in Turkey. With a 16/16 quality ~1600+ kpsi, this piece belongs in the top range of our Turkish Hereke rugs and is one of our finest handmade rugs to date. The remarkable quality is made possible by weavers making the rugs literally while looking through a magnifying glass, which is an old weaving technique that is all but gone. The Korhan workshop is one of the few remaining workshops in Istanbul and we are very fortunate to be able to offer such a piece. It was apparently made in the mid 90's and since it was kept in a beautiful frame the entire time, it is like new and in flawless condition. To give you some idea of how amazing this 16/16 quality is, keep in mind that there are 16 knots per centimeter so each knots is well smaller than even one millimeter. Even for a small piece like this one, you are looking at a rug that took well over a year to make and yes, each single knot is carefully done by hand. Simply absolutely amazing!!

Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs
Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.
If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.
