RUG INFORMATION:
This genuine 10/10 quality Turkish Ozipek Hereke rug is a perfect example of the close relationship between the Turkish and Persian rug weaving culture.
The design showcases an obvious Tabriz rug inspiration and features a nearly black background with the rusty colors in the borders and center that is classic for high quality Persian Tabriz rugs. Being that my family is from Tabriz, I am accustomed to hearing my relatives speak in Azari, which is a spoken language of the northwestern part of Iran and a mix of Persian and Turkish just like this Hereke rug.
This is a genuine Turkish Ozipek Hereke rug with a 10/10 quality, which translates into about 625 kpsi and its a great example of what the older fine Turkish silk Hereke rugs at their peak of their production were all about. The Hereke dates to around 1970 and the workmanship and quality is everything that you would expect from an old Ozipek Hereke and it is in excellent condition. As with all genuine Turkish Hereke Ozipek rugs, this piece features the Ozipek signature in the top center of the rug.
