RUG INFORMATION:
Rare Antique Hereke rug woven with gold colored metal added to the design!!
This rare antique metal Hereke rug dates back to between 1920-40 and has the woven serial number still attached to the fringes above the signature.
For rug collectors and basically anyone who loves the older Hereke rugs, this piece is truly a rare find and a very special piece. Made between 1920 to 1940 based on our estimates and knowledge of the Hereke rugs, this 10/10 quality very fine Hereke rugs features not only the serial number 257 in Arabic in the little patch above the signature, but also features a gold colored metal in the weave. The metal rugs are also known as Soof and they are a very unique novelty. The 10/10 quality, which converts to about 625 kpsi is also enhanced by the pure vegetable dyed silk, which is apparently by the shimmer of patina that is forming on the rug.
The workmanship is everything one would expect from the 10/10 quality Hereke rugs and it is simply a beautiful reminder of the fading Turkish rug history. Given its condition, it was displayed as a decor rug and there are no areas that were repaired or removed. It is extremely well aged and in exceptional condition as is also evident by the fringes, who are looped at the ends as was customerary in the old days.
