Rare horizontal Ozipek Hereke rug with an identical design of a twin but with suttle seasonal changes!!
This horizontal 10/10 quality pictorial Ozipek Hereke rug is an incredible find and something that rug fans would love to see. Not only is this a genuine 10/10 quality Hereke Ozipek in mint condition, but it is a twin of another piece that we purchased, but with seasonal changes.
We purchased this Hereke Ozipek alongside its sibling from a collector due to a very unusual circumstance that the Ozipek workshop is famous for. If you compare this Ozipek piece with its sibling #A801405, you will notice that besides the color change, both pieces feature different seasons while the rest of the design is identical. You can see how the tree branches, animals and the entire Tree-of-Life design is a match, but the leaves and blossoms on the flowers and trees are different. This is what the Ozipek workshop was so famous for. The weavers created unique designs and then created truly stunning pieces of art.
This is a genuine Turkish Ozipek Hereke rug with a 10/10 quality, which translates into about 625 kpsi and its a great example of what the fine Turkish silk Hereke rugs at their peak of their production are all about. What sets this rare pictorial Ozipek Hereke rugs apart from most other Ozipek rugs is the size as the larger ones were rarely made back in the days due to their extreme high costs. This Hereke Ozipek dates to around 1960 and keep in mind that the original buyer could have bought a nice Mercedes sedan with what he paid for this rug. These Hereke Ozipek pieces were painstakingly woven and you can see that in the details of the design. The pictorial Tree-of-Life design features lots of plants and animals throughout and I personally love the shape of the whole design. Everything about it from the classic Ozipek solid black background to the colors in the Hereke piece speaks of the type of workmanship that the Ozipek workshop was so famous for. If you are a fan or collector of rare Persian or Turkish rugs, you will know how remarkable this piece is and why I am absolutely thrilled to be able to aquire it.
