RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine semi-antique Susler-Hali Hereke rug with 10/10 quality
This is a genuine Susler-Hali Hereke rug with a 10/10 quality ~625 kpsi, which makes it a very fine piece amongst the handmade Turkish silk rugs. Most Hereke Susler-Hali Hereke rugs are of a lower quality and it is rare to find antique Susler-Hali of this caliber.
In addition, the Susler-Hali workshop was one of many smaller Hereke weavers that established itself in the pre-WW2 era and then kind of faded away before the onslaught of the Chinese replicas tsunami. The workmanship of the Hereke Susler-Hali is a mix between the traditional Hereke and Kayseri rugs and the few remaining pieces tend to feature designs similar to the one you see in this piece. Based on the condition, workmanship and other pieces that we have seen over the years, we estimate this rug to be about 70 years old as is evident in the signatures. It was common for many Hereke workshops like the Susler-Hali or Ozipek for example to change their signatures slightly over time and here you can see the two signatures added the kelim. In addition, the Susler-Hali would typically add the Hereke signature in the rug itself as you can see in the various pictures. If you are a passionate Hereke fan, you will appreciate the novelty and rarity of this fine Hereke rug and being that we ourselves are passionate Hereke lovers, its the kind of rug we love to have as part of our collection.
