Semi-Antique Hereke rug with Metal fibers in design
This rare metal Hereke rug is a perfect example of what the older small Hereke rugs with the gold metal look like when they are treated like art and are left in mint condition.
Design and workmanship are everything the silk 10/10 Hereke rugs are known for and as is common in some of the more unique Hereke carpets, this piece has areas where the Kelim is left exposed and a golden colored threat is added to the foundation. This is to allow the design to look as if it is floating on the rug and gives the pattern an in-depth look and feel.
The condition of this semi-antique Hereke is excellent and based on our estimate it is about 60 years old. Given that this piece is in the condition that it is, it is safe to assume that it was treated like a decor rug and hang on a wall. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for as part of their personal fine art collection. In addition to its quality and condition, it is also extremely rare to find genuine Turkish Hereke rugs with the added metal in this large size. This is the type of metal Hereke rug many of my clients look for and given its hard to find size, quality and condition, it will probably be finding a happy new home soon...
