RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Habib-Jan masterpiece quality Isfahan rug with signature.
This Isfahan rug is a genuine and signed Habib-Jan masterpiece and we are fortunate to be able to purchase this piece at this price as his Isfahan rugs are becoming very scarce and high priced due to the demand. The Habib-Jan family is not as famous as the Serafian or Haghigi weaving houses yet, but as time goes on many people in the rug trade see him as the future of the Persian rug weaving in Isfahan.
The Isfahan rug here is a a great example of the type of rug that the Habib-Jan weaving house designed and weaves and if you are familiar with Isfahan carpets you will immediately see how it is different from the norm. With the choice of solid black and gold colors, this piece looks more like a high end Tabriz rug and the quality is also equally superior to most Isfahan rugs. There is lots of silk in the beige and white borders, which make the black Gonbad design pop out even more. Unlike most of the famous Isfahan weavers, Habib-Jan is not only primarily a designer like the Serafians, but was trained as a weaver and so you have a combination of being the man being the design as well as weave, which is very rare in Persian rugs. Most of the famous people in the Persian rug trade are not actually trained weavers, but Habib-Jan is very much like Habibian was in Nain. Trained as a weaver and then add designing rugs to his skills and here is a perfect example of what the final product is all about. With about 600 kpsi, it is a very nice piece and like all fine Isfahan rugs, this carpet features a silk foundation. His signature is also of course visible as you can see in the pictures.
In this video, I will feature several Isfahan rugs from various eras and and showcase some of the details that make Isfahan carpets so popular amongst Persian rug fans.
