RUG INFORMATION:
Rare Tree-of-Life Semi-Antique Pictorial Hereke rug in excellent condition
This rare pictorial Hereke rug is in excellent condition with a very fine 10/10 quality and about 625 kpsi.
Genuine Hereke silk carpets typically feature traditional Ottoman designs as you can see in my Turkish Hereke gallery, so being able to find a semi-antique pictorial Tree-of-Life silk piece in this condition is very rare and quite a treat. As with all of genuine Turkish Hereke rugs that we offer, this piece is not a Chinese copy and dates back to about 1960. It was purchased from a collector who treated it like an artpiece and it was obviously treated like an artpiece. These rare pictorial Hereke rugs are typically either hang on walls or placed as decor rugs in places where there little to no chance of being walked on, which is why they tend to keep their luster and quality. The rare Tree-of-Life design features a lot of wildlife, birds and plants with a very fine level of detail. As with most genuine Turkish Hereke rugs from that era, the Hereke signature is in the top left corner of the carpet.
IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs
Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.
If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs. Topic #1: The different qualities in Turkish & Chinese Hereke rugs Topic #2: Differences in prices and Signatures!! Learn the truth about them and see an actual example of a signature that was added to a Chinese copy to make it look like a Turkish piece
