RUG INFORMATION:
Amazing Hereke rug with 14/14 quality ~1300 kpsi and a stunning pictorial design!!
This genuine Hereke rug features a 14/14 quality ~1300 kpsi, which makes it one of the finest rugs in our entire collection of Turkish Hereke rugs. The remarkable quality is made possible by weavers making the rugs literally while looking through a magnifying glass, which is an old weaving technique that is all but gone. Keep in mind that 14/14 means that there are 14 knots per centimeter, so each knot is well less than a single millimeter in width. It is simply remarkable that weavers could make such rugs back in the 60's. Unfortunately, this type of rug weaving has become so expensive that most buyers choose the cheaper Chinese imitations and therefore the weavers in Turkey have all but abandoned this rare artform. Nowadays, the costs would be so prohibitive that it is extremely rare to find new Turkish Hereke rugs of this caliber. Also, the condition is like new and it was sealed in a glass frame for all these years, which literally kept it in a brand new condition even though it is an older piece.
The second unique feature in this piece is the square shape and the design, both of which are equally rare in Turkish Hereke rugs. Most Turkish silk rugs feature the more traditional designs and rectangular shapes and this is one of only a few pieces that we have ever offered with this rare square shape. Another feature is the pictorial design depicting the ancient imperial royalty on a hunting expedition, which is also very rare in Turkish rugs. In all, this is a truly unique and sought-after piece for those who appreciate the fine Turkish rugs and a great example of what the Hereke rugs are famous for. With an amazing 1300 kpsi, it is simple a stunning artpiece and even though it is over 50 years old, it is in excellent condition as it was displayed as an artpiece by a collector. At the bottom center is the unique signature of the Hereke weaver, which is also a novelty as most Hereke rugs have the name Hereke woven in one top corner instead.

IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Learn about Turkish vs. Chinese Hereke Rugs

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.

Topic #2: Differences in prices and Signatures!! Learn the truth about them and see an actual example of a signature that was added to a Chinese copy to make it look like a Turkish piece
