Once in a lifetime find and a dream for many rug collectors...>Museum quality Seyrafian Persian rug that we had heard rumors about but never seen in person until now.
This genuine Seyrafian Kelim rug is one of two rare pictorial Kilim pieces that we recently aquired from a business partner of the Seyrafian family. We had heard stories about how the elder Seyrafian brothers made a few special Kilim rugs that were presented at gifts and had seen pictures of a few, but never seen any in our lifetime until now. A business partner of the Seyrafian family has offered us several exclusive genuine Seyrafian masterpieces that date back to around 1960-1970 and were made by the 5 sons of grand weaver Seyrafian.
This Kelim rug features a hunting design and is such a fine Kelim rug, that the back almost looks as fine as the front. Whereas the larger of the two Kilim rugs has a cotton foundation, this piece not only features a silk foundation, but also about 1000kpsi, which is another feature that we have never seen before. Even though it could be placed on a floor, I would imagine that a rare piece like this one would be hang on a wall or placed in a special place. To make it clear, this is one of two exceptional pieces and the first time we have ever seen Isfahan Kilim rugs in our lives and in person. If we did not know the seller, we would have had our doubts about their authenticity and the only time we had seen pictures of them were in magazines of fine auction houses.
