Gorgeous Isfahan rug made by the Seirafian family around 1950-1955. TWIN AVAILABLE!!
This Isfahan rug is one of several genuine Seirafian artpieces that we purchased from the family of a business partner of the Seirafian family and it is about 70 years. It is not only by far the most valuable Seirafian rug that we have ever listed in our website, but the more remarkable fact is the availability of a twin set. In case you ever wondered what rugs north of 400-600k look like, look no further. And yes, we have commercial clients who purchase these rugs for their clients and we also have individual buyers who look for collectable rare pieces like this one.
Made by the sons of Masterweaver Seirafian around 1950-1955, it is in excellent condition and features about 900kpsi on a silk foundation of course. The Seirafian family is one of the best known Persian rug weavers and the most respected rug makers of Isfahan.
The Seirafian family became the benchmark of fine Isfahan rugs starting in the 1930's, but really took off when the sons joined the fathers rug business. Here we have a rare genuine piece that has been part of a private collection and we were thrilled to be able to aquire it along with some other incredible pieces. The quality and workmanship pretty much speaks for itself when the Seirafian name is used in conjunction with Isfahan rugs and it is becoming more and more difficult to find pristine rugs made by the original sons. Many of the new Seirafian rugs are now made by the third generation (grand-children of Grandmaster Seirafian) and while they are also very fine Isfahan pieces, they lack the quality and respect that the older pieces have and are much more common.
This Seirafian Isfahan rug features a traditional floral design that was made from 1950-1970. As with most Seirafian rugs, the signature is added to the large kelim area under the rug and the pile is made of very fine wool on a silk foundation. Even though this rug is about 70 years old, it is in excellent condition and there are no damages. Given that it is semi aged, the rug is so well maintained that it looks like a new piece and it is only through close inspection that you can see the naturally aged look. In all, this is a rare chance to find an authetic Seirafian Isfahan in this condition and price.
