This is an actual double-knotted Turkish 26/26 Hereke silk rug. With our passion for the pure silk Turkish Hereke rugs, we have been searching for years to find pieces that are of a Holy Grail status and this is one of those pieces that we will cherish forever. The sheer size of this 26/26 quality piece is obviously out of this world and to give you an idea, this 43x43cm rug has ~1,25 million double-knotted Turkish knots. Just imagine how long it took the weaver to sit there and weave this rug and you will understand why this is considered to be the Mount Everest of Turkish rugs. If you browse through the pictures, you will see the word Hereke in two corners added to the tiny borders and the details are simply stunning.
The Pazyryk design is named after the worlds oldest handmade rug that is on display in a museum in Russia and I have featured the details of the Pazyryk rug in several videos. If you look closely at the pictures and video below, you will see a level of details in the individual tiles that is out of this world.
