RUG INFORMATION:
This stunning 850 kpsi pictorial Qum rug is one of the few pieces that the Mahpour family now makes and it is simply a stunning piece with a sad but all too common story.
Made by the weavers of the Mahpour family in Qum before they fell victim to the influx of the mass produced machine-made replicas. Like so many of the well respected workshops in Qum, they had to watch as their designs and signature were copied and had little choice but to close their shop and this piece is one of the few that members of the family are still weaving. This extremely fine and detailed silk Qum rug not only features ~850 kpsi, but also has a beautiful pictorial design that is destined to be used as a decor rug or even hang or framed.
To show you the degree of pre-caution that some of the master weavers have taken, take a look at the pictures with the fringes and you will notice that there are some very dark, almost black strands in the foundation. This is done deliberately so that the buyer know that this is a genuine handmade piece and not one of the mass produced copies.
