RUG INFORMATION:
This 800 kpsi pure silk Qum rug was made by the Golestan Samadi family in Qum and is a perfect example of what the very best in pure silk Qum rugs are all about and with a tribute to the old days of carpet weaving.
Made by the Golestan Samadi rug weaving family in Qum, this unique and very detailed silk Qum rug not only features an ~800 kpsi masterpiece quality, but also a design that showcases what silk rugs used to look like in the past centuries. You will notice that the fringes and foundation are of a brownish-gold color and all of the colors in the details are also naturally sourced. This is literally what antique pure silk Kashan, Qum or Tabriz would have looked like when they were woven around 150 years ago. Being that silk is naturally not a pure white fiber and is more grayish in nature, it was easier back then to dye the silk in a brownish color to give it a uniform color, which is why you will see this color often in the foundation of very old rugs. In addition, the whole rug features colors and a design that is very much of the past, but with a modern touch of workmanship. Whereas in the old days it was virtually impossible to produce 800 kpsi pure silk rugs of this caliber, the Golestan Samadi weavers have taken the old and combined it with the dense pile and very high quality of the new. This is the kind of silk Qum rug that many of my clients look for to add to their collection and display in their homes. It is simply a great piece and like most, it features the signature of the Golestan Samadi weaving family.
