RUG INFORMATION:
Largest 20/20 quality Turkish Hereke rug with ~2500 kpsi.
The condition of this ultra fine Hereke is outstanding and the 20/20 quality refers to the fact that it features an amazing 20 knots per centimeter, which translates to about 4 million knots per square meter or about 2500 kpsi. Hereke rugs of this caliber are some of the most expensive and rarest handmade rugs in the world and a 20/20 Hereke in this incredible size would take easily several years to weave. Due to us having a reputation for being a premier source of genuine older Hereke rugs, we are fortunate to be able to offer pieces like this one.
Based on the history of this rug, this piece dates back to the early 1970's and was obtained by a collector who displayed it as an artpiece and centerpiece of his collection. The design shows the close relationship between the Turkish and Persian cultures and has many shared features that are found in Tabriz Persian rugs.
