RUG INFORMATION:
Amazing pictorial Hereke rug of the Bosphorus Strait and the Blue Mosque with a stunning 16/16 quality with ~1600+ kpsi!!
The kind of Hereke rug that collectors of genuine Hereke rugs drool over...
With a 16/16 quality, which translates into about 1600+ kpsi, this rare pictorial belongs into the upper class of the Turkish Hereke rugs. Then you add the beautiful artwork depicting the Bosphorus Strait with the Blue Mosque in a size and landscape shape that is perfect for hanging on a wall or framing. It like a perfect match of everything a passionate collector of the Turkish Hereke rugs would want. A stunning art-piece quality weave and workmanship that is a perfect example of the lost Turkish rug weaving culture, a picture that features the famous Turkish landscape and the perfect size and shape to display it. On top of that, you have a Hereke rug that dates back to the 70's in like new condition and was treated by its original owner as an artpiece.
Keep in mind that 16/16 means 16 knots per centimeter, so this is an extremely fine piece and the silk of the old days is far superior to the silk used in contemporary pieces. Unfortunately, this type of rug weaving has become so expensive that most buyers choose the cheaper Chinese imitations and therefore the few weavers in Turkey who had the skills to make such artpieces are mostly gone.
