RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Semi-Antique Pahlavan-Safai Nain Masterpiece...
This semi-antique Nain rug was made by the famous Pahlavan-Safai workshop in Nain around 1960 and is a great example of what the older 6-Lah Nain rugs are all about in terms of quality and workmanship. If you google Pahlavan-Safai Nain rugs, you will see other pieces by this workshop and they are famous for their one directional designs that feature lots of plants and animals. Like so many of the older workshops in Nain, the Pahlavan-Safai family stopped weaving Nain rugs many years ago, but their work is highly respected and sought-after.
Woven with a solid 6-Lah quality, this Nain rug features silk in the design as highlights and the pile is made with a very soft mix of kurkwool on a cotton foundation. One of the reasons why the Pahlavan-Safai Nain rugs like this one is also very popular with collectors is that the prices of their rugs have not gone sky high like the ones made by the Habibian workshop. This Nain rug is simply a great piece that pays homage to the artestry in Persian rugs and was displayed by the original owner like an artpiece. There are no damages to this rug and as you can see in the pictures, the hint of patina is evident in the design, which gives it the respect and beauty that it deserves. Perfect for laying in a home or hanging on a wall.
