Very rare genuine highest quality Bidjar rug known as Bidgineh with an amazing 400 kpsi.
If you are familiar with Bidjar rugs, you will know why they are also called the Steel or Iron Persian rugs and here is one of the rarest types you will ever find, known as Bidgineh. The Bidgineh Bidjar rugs were made in the small village outside of Bidjar and they are famous for making the highest quality Bidjar rugs with an incredible 400 kpsi. Virtually all of the ones we have ever been able to get our hands on feature a very classic Heraty design and have the fringes completely knotted on one side. Made of the finest Kurkwool available, this very high quality Bidjar rug represents one of the rarest and finest there is. There are literally only a few families in the Bidgineh village that made this Bidjar rugs on request and we were fortunate enough to obtain a small handful of them. Simply a Bidjar fans dream come true...
The qualities of genuine Bidjar rugs are typically classified as Tekap, Sanjan and the lower quality pieces are simply called Bidjar. Bidjar rugs like this one are meant to be placed in high traffic areas or under heavy furniture and many of my clients like to order them for their dining or living rooms. While folklore about Bidjar rugs tell the story of a triple knot and the weavers having to soak the wool in water before making the rugs, the truth is that the Bidjar rugs are made with some of the densest wool from the tribal Kudish regions in the northwestern Iran. The sheep in the region are known for their thick and plush wool and when combined with the same knot type as the Tabriz rugs, which is the Turkish knot, you end up with a rug that will last forever and then some...
