RUG INFORMATION:
Extremely well preserved antique Bidjar rug from the 1880's.
This ~140 year old Bidjar Persian rug represents everything that the Bidjar rugs are known for and then some.
We were lucky enough to purchase this Bidjar rug from one of our commercial Persian rug clients when he closed his shop and this piece was one his centerpieces that he proudly displayed on a wall. Based on the type of design, colors and most importantly foundation, we were able to establish that it dates back to around 1880 and it is simply a stunning example of what the Bidjar rugs are famous for. This Bidjar carpet like most was clearly used as a regular rug and had plenty of traffic on it, but the workmanhip of the Bidjar rugs with their triple knots are so well known, that there are no problems with it. The design and colors are classic for Bidjar rugs of that era and while Bidjar rugs are known and respected for the durability and condition, it is still rare to find a remarkable piece like this one in this shape.
