RUG INFORMATION:
Silk Hereke rug with 10/10 quality ~625kpsi and great for hanging!!
This Hereke rug is a great example of what the lost art of genuine Hereke rugs is all about with a design that makes it perfect for hanging on a wall or laying in a formal part of your home or office. With the influx of Chinese made Hereke rugs in Turkey, the local rug weaving culture is all but wiped out and finding genuine Turkish Hereke rugs is becoming more and more difficult. Here is a medium sized Hereke carpet with a 10/10 quality that is perfect as a decor item or for hanging as a wallart. While the quality of this piece is everything you would expect from a genuine fine silk Hereke rug, the blue background color truly brings out the design and beauty. It is an excellent piece and as with most genuine Hereke rugs, there is a signature in the top left corner in the border.
The workmanship is everything the Hereke rugs are known for and the condition of this semi-antique Hereke is excellent and based on our estimate it is about 60 years old. The subtle colors and certain features in the design point to it having been made around 1960. For those of you, who are passionate about Hereke rugs will most likely already noticed, this piece is mirror-copied on both sides, vertically and horizontally. Notice how each quarter of the rug is a perfect copy of the other sides? For example, imagine you cut the rug into 4 identical quarters. Each would be a reflection of the other, which is a hidden design feature typically found in Hereke rugs of that era. Also, the dark blue is starting to show a bit of patina, which not only adds to the beauty, but also compliments the other features in the design. It was obvious from its superb condition that this Hereke rug appears to be used as a decor rug only and there are no damaged or worn out areas that required any repairs. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for.
