RUG INFORMATION:
Semi-Antique Hereke Fidan rug in excellent condition
This fine Hereke Fidan rug is in excellent condition with a very fine 10/10 quality ~625 kpsi, which puts it in the high quality range of Turkish Hereke rugs.
The pictorial Tree-of-Life design in this Hereke piece is a classic for the older Fidan Hereke pieces and based on what we have learned about them, we estimate this piece to be about 70 years old. Owned by a collector who treated it like an artpiece as it has no wear or repairs and is in excellent condition. The Fidan workshop is an older small workshop in Hereke that like so many others could not survive the flood of imitation pieces from China that hit the market decades ago. Like so many of the well respected smaller Hereke workshops, the Fidan weavers had specialized in the colorful pictorial pieces like you see in this piece.
These type of Hereke rugs are typically either hang on walls or placed as decor rugs in places where there little to no chance of being walked on, which is why they tend to keep their mint condition and quality. The 10/10 quality, which means that this Hereke features 10 knots per centimeter, is very fine and ensures a very crisp and remarkable level of attention. As is also the norm with Turkish Hereke rugs, this piece features a signature, which you can see in the top right corner.
