RUG INFORMATION:
Incredible 13/13 1000+kpsi Hereke rug
This ~60 years old fine Hereke rug is not only amongst the finer old handmade Turkish rugs we offer with an incredible 1000+ kpsi, but it is rare to find them in this excellent condition.
Finding authentic old Turkish Hereke silk pieces like this one has become very rare as most tend to be very expensive and are not available on the open market. We are fortunate to be able to be offered a few of these incredibly rare Hereke rugs from families or private collectors and this is a perfect example such a piece in like new condition.
This about 60 year old and extremely fine 13/13 1000+kpsi Hereke rug is in remarkable condition and was obviously treated like a genuine piece of art. Back when it was made, the price would have been the equivalent to that of a nice car of that time and it is just amazing how weavers could even make such a piece by hand. To give you an idea, a 13/13 quality means that each centimeter has 13 knots or 1000+ kpsi. Now turn back the clock 60 years and imagine a weaver sitting there for months on end weaving this Hereke rug. This is why most Hereke rugs of this caliber are much smaller as this piece would have taken well over a year to weave.
This 13/13 Hereke piece features a classic design, colors and workmanship that points to a piece that is about 60 years old. The blue background and the rusty red border are classic for pieces from the early 1960s and also the medallion in the center gives us a bit of a hint and is unusual in Hereke rugs. The other feature is the mirror reflection, which is actually typical in Hereke rugs but rarely noticed. If you were to fold Hereke rugs in the middle along the vertical line, you will see that the left and right halves are mirror copies of each other. The Hereke signature is in the top right. This is the type of Hereke rug that many of clients who are passionate collectors like to own due to its obvious age and flawless condition.

IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Learn about Turkish vs. Chinese Hereke Rugs

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.

Topic #1: The different qualities in Turkish & Chinese Hereke rugs

Topic #2: Differences in prices and Signatures!! Learn the truth about them and see an actual example of a signature that was added to a Chinese copy to make it look like a Turkish piece
