RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Semi-Antique Turkish Hereke Hasel-Ipek rug in excellent condition with 10/10 quality.
This unusually sized and designed pure silk Turkish Hereke rug is one of only a few pieces from that long gone workshop of Hasel-Ipek in Hereke that we have been able to obtain over the years.
The Hasel-Ipek workshop in Hereke was one of the smaller but well respected workshops in the likes of G&K and Derin in Hereke that fell victim to the influx of cheap Chinese imitation Hereke silk rugs that have all but wiped out the silk carpet makers in Turkey. This Hereke Hasel-Ipek dates to about the 1950's and the condition is as beautiful as its unique design. What sets this particular piece apart from most Turkish Hereke silk rugs is the choice in colors and very unique design. As you can see, this piece features a tile pattern with flowers in each tile, which is the only time that we have seen this design in this size. It is a superb piece with a very fine 10/10 quality, meaning that it has 10 knots per centimeter.
If you are familiar with Turkish Hereke rugs, this piece feels very much like the older Ozipek Hereke carpets and it is obviously an older piece. Even though it is a light colored piece, the patina is starting to show its beauty and it was obviously treated like an artpiece and never walked on. Perfectly suited for hanging on a wall or displaying as a decor rug, this fine Hereke Hasel-Ipek is a great reminder of what the past Turkish weaving culture is all about. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors of rare Turkish Hereke rugs look for. As with all genuine Hereke Hasel-Ipek rugs, you will see the signature in the top center.
