RUG INFORMATION:
Unique 10/10 quality Ozipek Hereke rug in like new condition and one of the few examples of a mix between the Turkish and Persian rug weaving cultures...
This stunning 10/10 quality Ozipek Hereke rug is an incredible find and something that not only my fellow Hereke collectors would love, but also Persian rug fans in general. Not only is this Hereke Ozipek in mint condition, it is one that is made with a heavy Persian Tabriz influence as is evident in the design and signature as I will explain.
This is a genuine Turkish Ozipek Hereke rug with a 10/10 quality, which translates into about 625 kpsi and its a great example of what the fine Turkish silk Hereke rugs are all about. The Ozipek workshop was one the premier weavers of Hereke rugs and like so many artisan workshops got decimated by the cheap influx of Chinese made Hereke rugs. What sets this rare Ozipek aside is the fact that it was woven with a Tabriz design and the weaver added a Persian signature to pay respect to the Persian Tabriz rug culture and inspiration. Ozipek rugs in this size are extremely hard to find and this Hereke Ozipek dates to around 1980. Typically, Ozipek Hereke rugs tend to be much smaller due to their high costs and in addition to the large size for its type, this piece also features a classic Persian Tabriz design and colors. Even the signature is in Farsi and states Hereke Ozipek. This is only the second time that we have been able to aquire a piece like it and is proof of the close relationship between the Turkish and Persian rug weaving cultures. Being that the people of the Tabriz region are closely linked to the Turkish people in culture and language, it is such a rare and beautiful find to see the two rug cultures come together and create such an amazing rug. If you are a fan or collector of rare Persian or Turkish rugs, you will know how remarkable this piece is and why I am absolutely thrilled to be able to aquire it.
