Whether you are familiar with Ilam rugs or are a fan of handmade carpets, this is one Persian rug that is as rare as they come...
This genuine Ilam rug is a rare example of what the Kurdish weavers in the Persian Ilam used to produce in much larger numbers. Today there are only a few weavers left who continue this rare type of carpet weaving. Like most genuine high quality Ilam rugs, this piece comes with a silk foundation and has a very tight weave and superb workmanship. Also, like virtually all high quality Ilam carpets, these Persian rugs are woven with a very tight wool featuring the finest kurkwool, giving it an almost luxurious tribal look and feel. There are woven very much like their Bidjar cousins and many consider them to be perfect example of the Persian Kurdish carpet weaving. The eight tiles feature designs that are commonly found in Ilam rugs and the colors and almost floral designs are classic Ilam. If you are a fan of Persian rugs, I can wholeheartedly endorse these Ilam rugs as they are rare and great examples of Persian rug weaving...
