RUG INFORMATION:
Old Turkish Kayserie rug with beautiful Boteh design!!br>This pure silk Turkish Kayserie piece is a perfect example of what the old silk rug weaving culture in Turkey is famous for. Even tough we estimate that this Kayserie is at least 60 years old, it is in excellent condition as it was treated like a display piece for all of its live.
This Kayserie piece features the old Boteh design that is also commonly refered to as the Paisley design. The design dates back over 2000 years and while it has a Persian origin, it has over the centuries been embraced by the Turkish and Indian carpet weavers. The light red background gives it a very warm and elegant look and feel while the patina is clearly visible in the shine. It is simply a beautiful example of what the carpet weaving culture of the golden era in Turkey was all about. Lastly, if you like to see a short video of this Kayserie and another Hereke Ozipek with the Boteh design, view this page on a desktop or laptop and you can see the short video below.
