Genuine 70 Raj Gonbad Jafari-Motlagh Masterpiece...
This is a genuine 70 Raj Tabriz rug featuring the popular dome Gonbad design made by the weavers of the Jafari workshop and by Jafari-Motlagh himself.
Jafari-Motlagh is the founder and masterweaver of the Jafari workshop and he is regarded by many to be one of the grand weavers in Tabriz who specialized in the Gonbad design. For those who have a passion for Tabriz Persian rugs, the Jafari name is synonymous with the Gonbad design and the highest quality. Similar to the Faraji weaving family in Tabriz that specialized in the floral design, the Jafari family was one of the pilars of the carpet weaving culture up until recent years.
Here you have a stunning piece that dates back to the very early 1980's and it was part of a very fine private collection of exceptional high quality carpets that we were able to purchase. Its rare enough to be able to offer a regular high quality Tabriz Gonbad rug with this gorgeous design, but finding one with this over the top 70 Raj quality from Jafari-Motlagh takes it to a whole new level, especially considering the like new condition. It is as if it is brand new and ware obviously never exposed to a great deal of use. Being a genuine 70 raj, it is a very formal and elegant Tabriz rug and is designed to last a lifetime. As one would expect from genuine 70 Raj Tabriz rugs, this piece features a silk foundation and silk is found throughout the whole rug pile which is also made with the highest quality kurkwool. You will see the signature of Jafari-Motlagh in the border and it is one of several Gonbad Tabriz rugs that we feature from his workshop.
