RUG INFORMATION:
A rare and yet mysterious Hereke silk rug runner that we believe to be Chinese!!
This handmade pure silk Hereke rug is one that is such a unique piece that it has us guessing to its actual country of origin. Based on our knowledge and years of experience, we are all certain that we this is NOT a genuine Turkish Hereke and is most likely either a very well made Chinese copy or from another country. Even though it was sold originally as a Turkish Hereke rug and has the workmanship of a genuine Hereke rug, the silk and signature gives us enough doubts to question it and therefore we will not offer it as a genuine Turkish rug. Based on similar pieces we have had, we think that it is a very well made Chinese copy and this is also obvious by the price.
Finding Hereke runners is extremely difficult as they would be extremely expensive and their is virtually no demand for them. This is also why this piece is such an oddball as it would make little sense to weave a rug like this Hereke rug unless it was done for a custom order. And even if it was a custom ordered rug, the sheer time and cost of weaving a fine 10/10 quality Hereke runner would make it a non-starter for most clients.
The quality is everything you would expect from a genuine Turkish 10/10 quality Hereke rug and we guess it to be about 40-50 years old based on the condition of the silk. It is such a beautiful and rare piece that I will feature it in its own video and you should see it below if you view this page in desktop view. Again, I want to be clear that even though I could offer it as a Turkish Hereke rug, it is in our opinion a Non-Turkish pure silk rug and as a result, the price is a fraction of what a real Turkish Hereke would be selling for.
Due to the large number of calls and emails that I have received from folks over the past 20 years, who purchased Hereke rugs during vacations in Turkey and later learned that the rugs they have are not genuine Turkish pieces, I have made the video that you can see below and whether you already own or are interested in the Hereke rugs, please watch the video as I will be sharing a few tips and info.

IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Important Tips about Hereke Carpets

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this 17 minute video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.
