RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine Semi-Antique Turkish Hereke-Derin rug in excellent condition with 10/10 quality in a rare size and design.
This large pure silk Turkish Hereke-Derin is one of only a handful pieces that we have been able to obtain in this large size and it is a genuine Turkish piece and NOT a Chinese copy as I explain in the video below where I show Turkish and Chinese Hereke rugs and point out the differences.
The Derin workshop was one of the premier weaving house along with G&K and Ozipek in Hereke that like so many others fell victim to the influx of cheap Chinese silk rugs that have all but wiped out the silk carpet makers in Turkey. Given that this Hereke-Derin dates to about 1960-1970, the condition is excellent and is like new. What sets this particular piece apart from most Turkish Hereke silk rugs is the large size and the design with its heavy Persian influence.
Due to the high cost and selling prices back when the Hereke rugs were originally made and sold, large pieces like this one were extremely expensive and Derin-Hereke ones like this one were only made in very low numbers. As a result, most tend to have very unique designs and tend to stand out from most other Hereke rugs. In this piece you can see the colors and designs that borrows heavily from Persian rugs like the Sarough and Kashan carpets. The choice in colors with the patina brown background is a perfect compliment to the unique design which is extremely rare in silk rugs. It is a superb piece with a very fine 10/10 quality, meaning that it has 10 knots per centimeter. Perfectly suited for hanging on a wall or displaying as a decor rug, this fine Hereke-Derin is a great reminder of what the past Turkish weaving culture is all about. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of rug that many of my fellow collectors of rare Turkish carpets look for. As with all genuine Hereke-Derin rugs, you will see the signature in the top center.

IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Learn about Turkish vs. Chinese Hereke Rugs

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.

Topic #2: Differences in prices and Signatures!! Learn the truth about them and see an actual example of a signature that was added to a Chinese copy to make it look like a Turkish piece
