RUG INFORMATION:
Rare Kashmir Silk rug with a Single Knot quality...
This Kashmir rug is one of several with the rare single knot quality, which is very hard to find and far superior to the standard high quality 18/18 Kashmir rugs.
The single knot Kashmir rugs are very much like the genuine 50Raj Tabriz rugs in that they are woven with individual knots instead of being hand-loomed like standard Kashmir rugs. This gives the single knot Kashmir rugs a much more solid pile and as you can see in the pictures, the details in the silk pile is much thicker and yet well defined than in standard Kashmir rugs. The solid silk pile is perfect for traffic areas and we are fortunate to be one able to work closely with the weavers in Kashmir who are able to produce these rare pieces for us. As you can see in the pictures, the silk pile ensures that the colors change depending on the viewing angle and lighting and the single knot Kashmir rugs are everything you would expect from a high quality Persian rug.
The design in this single knot Kashmir rug is called Gonbad, which is one of our most popular designs and it is inspired by the interior ceiling pattern in mosques. There are several different types of Gonbad designs and this piece features one of the best known and very popular patterns. The large center radiates outwards and the design features a symmetric pattern that is very hard to make and is absolutely beautiful. Due to the popularity of our Gonbad Kashmir rugs and esspecially the ones with the high quality single knot weave, we work with the weavers to ensure that the quality is everything our clients look for.
