RUG INFORMATION:
Rare round Semi-Antique Chinese Hereke Silk rug.
This handmade round pure silk Chinese Hereke rug is one of several rare Chinese Hereke rugs that we are offering and it is everything that the Hereke rugs are known for, except that it is made in China. Like the famous Turkish Hereke rugs, it is pure silk and features not only a rare round size, but also a condition that is simply excellent for its age. Given that it is about 60 years old, it is in a like-new condition and was purchased from a private collector who had this piece as a decor rug in his vacation home.
This piece is a very rare find as silk Hereke rugs from Turkey and/or China are rarely ever offered in a round shape and it is one of only a few large round pieces that I have ever seen. For its price, age. condition and quality, this piece is absolutely excellent and as a Persian rug fan, I have absolutely no problems recommending it. However, I want to be clear that even though I could offer it as a Turkish Hereke rug, it is in fact a Chinese imitation and as a result, the price is a fraction of what a real Turkish Hereke would be selling for.
Due to the large number of calls and emails that I have received from folks over the past 20 years, who purchased Hereke rugs during vacations in Turkey and later learned that the rugs they have are not genuine Turkish pieces, I have made the video that you can see below and whether you already own or are interested in the Hereke rugs, please watch the video as I will be sharing a few tips and info.
IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs
Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.
If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs. Topic #1: The different qualities in Turkish & Chinese Hereke rugs Topic #2: Differences in prices and Signatures!! Learn the truth about them and see an actual example of a signature that was added to a Chinese copy to make it look like a Turkish piece
