RUG INFORMATION:
Rare Indian Pure Silk rug with a Gonbad design...
This Indian rug is one of several pieces that feature a pure silk quality and is made of very fine and soft silk. It is unlike the standard Indian Kashmir rugs and is woven like the genuine Persian rugs with individual knots.
The quality of this silk rug is much like the genuine 50Raj Tabriz rugs in that they are woven with individual knots instead of being hand-loomed like standard Kashmir rugs. This gives the single knot Kashmir rugs a much more solid pile and as you can see in the pictures, the details in the silk pile is much thicker and yet well defined than in standard Kashmir rugs. The solid silk pile is perfect for traffic areas and we are fortunate to be one able to work closely with the weavers in Kashmir who are able to produce these rare pieces for us. As you can see in the pictures, the silk pile ensures that the colors change depending on the viewing angle and lighting and the single knot Kashmir rugs are everything you would expect from a high quality Persian rug.
