RUG INFORMATION:
Genuine pure silk Tabriz Persian rug
This pure silk Tabriz Persian rug is a genuine Jafari Gonbad carpet and as is customary with all of the Gonbad rugs made by the Jafari family, it is signed. Finding actual pure silk Tabriz rugs is very hard due to the nature of the weaving techniques that is used by the weavers in Tabriz (Turkish knot) and this piece is a treasure to all those who are fans of the Gonbad design. The Jafari family is one of the best known weaving families in Tabriz that were amongst the pioneers in the Gonbad design and while we like to feature many of their rugs, we were extremely lucky to be able to purchase this Gonbad piece. Even though the knot count is not as high as in pure silk Qom rugs, the pure silk Tabriz rugs are actually higher priced due to the strength of the Turkish knot that is used in the weaving and many consider the pure silk Tabriz rugs to be of a superior quality than the Tabriz counterparts.
