Extremely rare ultra fine Pakistani Lahore rug...
This Pakistani Lahore rug is one of only a handful of pieces that we is still in our inventory as finding Pakistani made rugs of this caliber is extremely rare. Made from the finest hand-spun wool, a government funded workshop in Lahore produced only a small number of ultra-fine carpets for their embassies and other institutions. We were contacted by the outgoing director of the rug workshop prior to its closure and were given permission to purchase the last of their rugs and here is one such piece.
Made with the finest kurkwool along with the workmanship and weaving technique used by Persian rug weavers in Tabriz, this Lahore rug was made with a Turkish double knot and features the type of design and quality that one would expect to see in very fine Tabriz rugs. With about 350 kpsi, this piece is everything you would expect from the high quality Tabriz rugs and having closely examined them myself, I can attest for the workmanship and uniqueness. The design appears to be inspired by a mix of Persian and Pakistani patterns and it is thanks to its all natural dyes that the colors are very earthly in nature and very ellegant. Instead of sticking out with bold colors as is often the case with Persian rugs, this Lahore rug features a light background and very warm shades of gold and teal. For those who appreciate fine handmade rugs, this piece is definitely something that stands out and is a great example of some of the finest rugs made in Pakistan.
