Genuine rare Nimbaft Kelim rug...
This Kelim rug is called Nimbaft and it is one of the most unusual types of Kelim rugs that is very hard to find.
Made with a combination of wool inside the kelim, you can see how the border features a wool border while the majority of the rug is left as a Kelim, which gives the rug a 3-D feel to it. This is a rare and very old weaving technique that has become virtually lost and it is truly a rarity to find weavers who still make these type of Nimbaft Kelim rugs. Its a novelty item that is a great example of what the kelims of the old were all about and for someone who loves all things unique in Persian rugs, this little piece is actually one of my favorites.
