Stunning Bidjar rug with a silk foundation...
If you are familiar with Bidjar rugs, you will know why this piece is a stunner!
Imagine if a model and a Navy Seal had a child with the best of each parents qualities. Here is a Bidjar, which are rightfully called the toughest and most durable of Persian rugs with a silk foundation and silk in the pile, which again is completely out of the norm. This is only the second time that I have been able to offer a silk foundation Bidjar rug and the oversize adds another layer of novelty on it as it is rare to find high quality Bidjar rugs in this size.
Made of very fine and dense Kurkwool, this Bidjar rug features a quality known as Tekab, but with a silk foundation and about 350-400 kpsi, which is virtually unheard of in even very fine Bidjar rugs. This piece is such a rare piece that we are seriously thinking about keeping it for our office as I have mentioned to some of my clients. At the moment we have set this piece and a rare Sarough-Mahal aside and time will tell which one will stay. The sheer quality of these very heavy and dense Bidjar rugs like this one makes it perfect for just about any area of a home, office or under heavy furniture. While folklore about Bidjar rugs tell the tales of a triple knot and the weavers soaking the wool in water before making the rugs, the truth is that the Bidjar rugs are made with some of the densest wool from the tribal Kudish regions in the northwestern Iran. The sheep in the region are known for their thick and plush wool and when combined with the same knot type as the Tabriz rugs, which is the Turkish knot, you end up with a rug that will last forever and then some...
This Bidjar rug features a rusty red background and made to look like an aged piece, it is a new Bidjar carpet. It is a great example of what a the best Kurdish weavers of the Bidjar rugs are capable to creating and it is truly a testament of their skills to have such a rare piece.

Due to its heavy weight and size, this Bidjar rug will be shipped directly to you from our warehouse in Hamburg, Germany and will most likely have be shipped on a pallet.
