RUG INFORMATION:
Stunning High Quality Bidjar rug runner with silk.
This 12+ foot (3,7m) Bidjar rug runner is a great example of what the high quality Bidjar rugs are famous for and are very hard to find.
If you are familiar with Bidjar rugs, you will know why they are also called steel rugs and here is a great example of what a high quality long Bidjar rugs with silk looks like. This high quality Bidjar rug features a quality known as Tekab with about 350 kpsi, which is very high for Bidjar rugs and it is equally rare to find them with the silk added to the pile. Bidjar rugs like this one are meant to be placed in high traffic areas such as hallways and under heavy furniture. While folklore about Bidjar rugs tell the tales of a triple knot and the weavers soaking the wool in water before making the rugs, the truth is that the Bidjar rugs are made with some of the densest lambwool from the tribal Kudish regions in the northwestern Iran. The sheep in the region are known for their thick and plush wool and when combined with the same knot type as the Tabriz rugs, which is the Turkish knot, you end up with a rug that will last forever and then some. What sets this piece aside is the fact that the weavers added a nice amount of silk to the design making this one of my favorite Bidjar runners to date...
