RUG INFORMATION:
Jamshidi Style artpiece quality Qum Persian runner made by Mohammad Labofan...
This pure silk Qum Persian rug runner is a rare example of what the best of the best in pure silk Qum rugs looks like. Instead of woven like most pure silk Qum rugs with a Persian knot, this carpet was woven with what is known as a Turkish knot, which is a double knot and much stronger as well as denser. The combination of the Turkish knot with the densest and finest silk results in a Qum rug that may look like an ordinary fine pure silk Qum, but is in reality a beast in disguise...
The pile is much denser than most other Qum rugs and when you hold it, you will know instantly why this is such a rarity. The Labofan workshop is well known for making Qum rugs of this exceptional quality and thankfully they are not as famous as the Jamshidi workshop or else the prices would be as astronimical as the genuine Jamshidi pieces. Since Qum rugs are typically made with the Persian knots, the few weavers that have mastered the skills of weaving them with the Turkish knot tend to stand out and this is one such piece. Typically purchased by fans of Persian rugs who look upon them as more of a novelty, they are often treated more like collectables than home decor. Simply an amazing example of what one of the best types of Qum carpets looks like.
