If you are familiar with Bidjar rugs, you will know why they are also called steel rugs and here is a great example of what happens when I am allowed to talk to rug weavers about what I think my clients are looking for in high quality Bidjar rugs with silk.
The high end Bidjar rugs with this expectional quality known as Tekap ~350kpsi are some of my clients favorite type of Persian rugs and I have been trying for years to get together with a group of Kurdish Bidjar weavers who have the experience and patience to allow us to be a part of the design process. This here is one such creation and it combines the classic Herati design with a very modern and contemporary look. If you look closely, you will see the hidden Herati design imbedded in the dark background, which is made with golden silk highlights. Combined with the black color in the border, the design is a very nice variation of the norm and simply a beautiful rug...
