Extremely rare antique Bidjar-Halvai rug in excellent condition.
This 100+ year old Bidjar-Halvai Persian rug represents everything that the finest antique Bidjar rugs are known for and then some.
Amongst the most popular collectable antique Persian rugs are the Bidjar-Halvai rugs, which are considered to be by many to be the highest grade of old Bidjar rugs. This piece comes from one of our commercial Persian rug clients and was one of his centerpieces that he proudly displayed in his home. Based on the type of design, colors and workmanship, we were able to establish that it dates back to around 1900 and it is simply a stunning example of what the old Bidjar rug weaving culture is famous for. Made by predominantly Kurdish family in the small town of Bidjar in northwestern Iran, the Bidjar-Halvai are often associated with Bidjar rugs that were often commissioned by wealthy European or Persian families and displayed in their estates, which is why they are able to maintain their beauty and condition. For those of you who are familiar with the Bidjar-Halvai rugs, you will know instantly how special this piece is and how attractive the price is as Bidjar-Halvai carpets of this caliber typically sell for much more.
