Rare Tree-of-Life pictorial Hereke-Cinar rug with Metal fibers in design.
This rare metal Hereke-Cinar rug is a perfect example of what the long lost culture of Turkish Hereke weaving is all about and here is a perfect piece with the gold metal known as Soof. While this is a piece that we estimate to be about 60 years old, it was displayed as an artpiece and other than the gorgeous patina has virtually no flaws.
Design and workmanship is everything the older 10/10 quality silk Hereke rugs are known for and this piece has areas where the Kelim is left exposed and a golden colored threat is added to the foundation. This is to allow the design to look as if it is floating on the rug and gives the pattern an in-depth look and feel. In addition, this metal Hereke rug features a pictorial Tree-of-Life design with lots of plants and birds, which is a rare combination.
The condition of this old Hereke-Cinar is excellent and based on our estimate it is about 60 years old. Given that this piece also features a 10/10 quality, meaning that is has 10 knots per centimeter, it is safe to assume that it was treated like a decor rug and hang on a wall. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that buyers look for as a decor item or as part of a fine art collection.
