RUG INFORMATION:
Rare pictorial old Turkish Hereke Ozipek rug in excellent condition with 10/10 quality depicting the traditional Ottoman Whirling Sufi Dervish Dances.
This rare pictorial pure silk Turkish Hereke Ozipek is a genuine Turkish piece and NOT a Chinese copy as I explain in the video below where I show Turkish and Chinese Hereke rugs and point out the differences.
The condition of this old Turkish Hereke Ozipek carpet is excellent and is like new even though we estimate that it is about 50 years old. It is a superb piece with a very fine 10/10 quality, meaning that it has 10 knots per centimeter, which comes out to be about 625 kpsi. The Ozipek workshop in Hereke was one of the premier weavers of fine Hereke rugs and as you can see by how they sell in our website, they are very sought-after by collectors. This piece here was originally purchased by a collector who like most displayed it as an artpiece, hence the gorgeous condition. The pictorial design is a first for us as it depicts the Whirling Sufi Dervish dances that is still performed in the Turkish communities. Being that we have a personal passion for the Hereke Ozipek pieces, I was immediately drawn to this piece as it combines the old art of rug weaving with the history of the very people who made this art possible. It is also a nice variation from the norm and as is customary with virtually all genuine Ozipek Hereke rugs, this piece also features the signature in the top center of the design. Perfectly suited for hanging on a wall or displaying as a decor rug, this fine Hereke Ozipek is a great reminder of what the past Turkish weaving culture is all about. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of silk rug that collectors look for.
IMPORTANT:

You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.
If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs.
