RUG INFORMATION:
Unique 10/10 quality Ozipek Hereke rug with a rare large size and a very Persian design perfect for displaying on a wall...
This stunning 10/10 quality Ozipek Hereke rug is an incredible find and something that not only my fellow Hereke collectors would love, but also Persian rug fans in general. Not only is this Hereke Ozipek in excellent condition for a rug that dates back to around 1970, but the sheer design and size is something we do not see in Turkish Hereke rugs very often.
This is a genuine Turkish Ozipek Hereke rug with a 10/10 quality, which translates into about 625 kpsi and its a great example of what the fine Turkish silk Hereke rugs are all about. The Ozipek workshop was one the premier weavers of Hereke rugs and like so many artisan workshops got decimated by the cheap influx of Chinese made Hereke rugs. What sets this rare Ozipek aside is the size, which is much larger than most genuine Ozipek rugs and the design, which we have not seen before in large pieces like this one. While animals and specially birds are often featured in the Ozipek designs along with lots of black, blues and pinks colors, it is this Persian inspired red background and design that makes this piece such as standout. Everything about this Turkish Hereke Ozipek is so different from the ones we are typically able to aquire that we were thrilled to be able to obtain it. Its as if the Ozipek weavers visited places like Qum or Isfahan and got inspired to make a rug with all of the DNA of Persian rugs. If you are a fan or collector of rare Turkish rugs and have a passion for the Ozipek pieces, you will know how remarkable this piece is and why I am absolutely thrilled to be able to aquire it.
