RUG INFORMATION:
Rare Hereke rug with 10/10 quality ~625kpsi - great for hanging!!
This horizontal Hereke rug is one of my favorite Turkish silk rugs in our collection due to its unique design and simple elegance. Hereke rugs typically feature the traditional dome designs and like most Persian carpets are woven vertically and it is very rare to find pieces like this one. Since most collectors tend to hang the silk hereke rugs on walls, I think the horizontal pieces is perfectly suited for that purpose. In addition to its unique shape, this piece also features a very fine 10/10 quality with ~625kpsi, which combined with the window design makes for a great piece.
The workmanship is everything the Hereke rugs are known for and the condition of this semi-antique Hereke is excellent and based on our estimate it is about 60 years old. The subtle colors and certain features in the columns point to it having been made around 1960. It was obvious from its superb condition that this Hereke rug appears to be used as a decor rug only and there are no damaged or worn out areas that required any repairs. Simply a great piece and the biggest challenge we have is finding similar pieces and many of our clients who are collectors tend to snag them up within a very short time.
