RUG INFORMATION:
23/23 quality Turkish Ozipek Hereke rug with an incredible 3300+ kpsi. Finest and most valuable Ozipek that we have ever held in our hands.
This is the finest and rarest pure silk Turkish Ozipek Hereke artpiece with an incredible 3300+ kpsi and a 23/23 quality!!
To give you an idea for how fine this Hereke Ozipek silk rug is, keep in mind that the 23/23 quality means that there are 23 knots per centimeter or more than 2 knots per millimeter. As if this is not enough, the Hereke rugs are like the Tabriz rugs made with a Turkish knot, which is a double knot. So imagine how how tiny and yet tough the knots will need to be in order to place 23 double knots into 1 centimeter, which translates into 3300+kpsi and over 5,2 million knots per square meter.
The only other examples of Hereke rugs like this one that we have ever seen are on display in museums in Turkey and even then we have never seen one of this quality made by the Ozipek workshop. Typically, extremely fine Hereke rugs like this one are made in a very small size (papersize or smaller) and this piece is actually the largest piece we have ever seen. We were able to aquire this piece along with another stunning 22/22 Hereke piece from the family of a private collector who had purchased these rugs in the mid 1970's as part of his personal collection. I wish I could have been able to show you pictures of the other pieces he has owned in the past as his Hereke rugs were at one point probably the most valuable private collection that I have ever seen. This is obviously a Ozipek piece unlike all others and for passionate collectors of Hereke rugs. I would imagine that those of you that know the value of these rare Ozipek pieces would immediately realize how special this piece is.
