Genuine Semi-Antique Turkish Hereke Ozipek rug in excellent condition with 10/10 quality.
This small pure silk square Turkish Hereke Ozipek is one of a handful of pieces that we offering and is a genuine Turkish piece and NOT a Chinese copy as I explain in the video below where I show Turkish and Chinese Hereke rugs and point out the differences.
The condition of this semi-antique Turkish Hereke Ozipek carpet is excellent and is like new even though we estimate that it is about 60 to 70 years old. It is a superb piece with a very fine 10/10 quality, meaning that it has 10 knots per centimeter, which comes out to be about 625 kpsi. The Ozipek workshop in Hereke was one of the premier weavers of fine Hereke rugs and they are very sought-after by collectors as you can in my galleries. This piece here was originally purchased by a collector who like most displayed it as an artpiece. The almost square shape and pictorial design of the lamp makes it a very unusual piece, but its the signature that will draw the attention of any Ozipek collector. Unlike most high end carpets that are made by individual weaving shops, the Ozipek workshop was more of an association of weavers who worked together as well as individually back in the days. This at times allowed for certain individual weavers to add their little twist to the famous Ozipek signature and here is a perfect example of it. Perfectly suited for hanging on a wall or displaying as a decor rug, this fine Hereke is a great reminder of what the past Turkish weaving culture is all about. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for.
