RUG INFORMATION:
Semi-Antique Silk Hereke rug with 13/13 quality ~1000kpsi!!
This Hereke rug is a great example of what the lost art of genuine Hereke rugs is all about with a 13/13 quality, which translates into about 1000 kpsi. With the influx of Chinese made Hereke rugs in Turkey, the local rug weaving culture is all but wiped out and finding genuine Turkish Hereke rugs is becoming more and more difficult. Here is a small Hereke carpet with a 13/13 quality that is perfect as a decor item or for hanging as a wallart.
The workmanship is everything the Hereke rugs are known for and the condition of this semi-antique Hereke is excellent and based on our estimate it dates back to about 1940. The subtle colors and certain features in the design point to it having been made around 1940 and we have learned to look closely at the patina of the older Hereke rugs for hints to their origin. If you look closely at the pictures, you can see how the dyes in the solid dark part of the Hereke is starting to age and that slight fading is a tell-tell sign of its age. For those of you, who are passionate about Hereke rugs will most likely already noticed, this piece is mirror-copied on both sides, vertically and horizontally. Notice how each quarter of the rug is a perfect copy of the other sides? For example, imagine you cut the rug into 4 identical quarters. Each would be a reflection of the other, which is a hidden design feature typically found in Hereke rugs of that era. Also, the dark blue is starting to show a bit of patina, which not only adds to the beauty, but also compliments the other features in the design. It was obvious from its superb condition that this Hereke rug appears to be used as a decor rug only and there are no damaged or worn out areas that required any repairs. Simply a stunning piece and the kind of Persian rug that collectors look for.

IMPORTANT:
Info About REAL vs. FAKE Hereke Rugs

Due to the large number of inquiries I receive about genuine and fake Hereke rugs and the misinformation that are being peddled by online and rug store retailers, I have created my own YouTube channel where I offer factual information for you like the video below that is about Hereke Silk Rugs. You can see the video if you view this rug page on a laptop or desktop.

Learn about Turkish vs. Chinese Hereke Rugs

If you own or are interested in silk Hereke rugs, please watch this video in which I show you real Turkish silk Hereke rugs and the Chinese silk couterparts that are often sold as genuine Turkish rugs. For over 20 years, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Hereke rugs and so many have been scammed by the rug dealers in Turkey that I thought I try to show you the difference using actual rugs.
