RUG INFORMATION:
Extremely rare Silk Meshkin rug with stunning quality - great decor rug!!
This pure silk semi-antique Meshkin rug is a great example of what the dying art of genuine pure silk Meshkin rugs are all about and is one of the finest examples of old Meshkin rugs that we have been able to obtain. The Meshkin Persian rugs come from the Ardabil region in north-western Iran and are known for their traditional tribal wool rugs.
However, as with most types of Persian rugs, there are exceptions to the rule and in this case the exception is a stunning pure silk rug that is completely unlike all others. Made of pure silk, this Meshkin is about 70 years old and was clearly displayed by the owner as an artpiece as it is in excellent condition and like new. The border features a typical kelim, but its the combination of the design and the pure silk nature that gives it the unique status as one of the rarest and most unusual pieces in our collection. The silk is extremely soft and as is common in the pure silk Meshkin rugs, the dyes are all natural with earthly colors.
